Comprising a total of 275
falls 230 feet high (70 meters), these horseshoe-shaped 1.7 miles
long falls (2,7 kilometers) are the world's largest.
The tropical location and the sheer beauty of the IguazEFalls led
Eleanor Roosevelt to say "Poor Niagara" when she visited
these magnificent falls. Four times the width of Niagara Falls,
the IguazEFalls offer an impressive view to our eyes, an overwhelming
sound to our ears and an unforgettable experience to its visitors.

Argentinean Side of the Iguazu Falls (Parque Nacional Iguazu)
We will arrive at the Iguazu National Park and
board a cute train that will take us to the footbridges
which lead to one of the most impressive sites of the
Iguazu Falls: La Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's Throat).
At this particular point, a great number of cascades converge. The
Devil's Throat owes its name to the overwhelming sound created
by the waterfalls, since this is where the largest flow of
water concentrates.
At this point our guide will invite you to close
our eyes and hear the roar of the Iguazu Falls. When you open youe
eyes, you will fully appreciate the overpowering strength
of the waters that fall with an incredibly strong impact,
creating a mist and fog so thick that the bottom of the Garganta
del Diablo cannot be seen.
It is here where we begin traversing the higher circuit
or road of the Iguazu Falls. In our stroll we will cross two footbridge
circuits, both located on the Argentinean side: the higher
(superior) and lower (inferior) ones. As their names imply,
both will allow you to appreciate two totally different perspectives
of the Iguazu Falls. But either from their base or from their highest
point, the Iguazu Falls will earn your amazement and admiration.
Through the 3/4 miles (1200 meters) of the superior circuit,
you will enjoy the views from the top of the Dos Hermanas,
Alvarez Nuez and Lanusse falls.
Afterwards well stroll along the inferior circuit,
which will allow you to get really close to the Iguazu Falls, practically
touching them and feeling their rain as we approach them.
Throughout the mile (1600 meters) of the inferior circuit
we will get to know the beautiful Bozzetti, Mbigua, Ramirez
and Chico falls.
Since you will be doing this tour with a private vehicle
and guide, you will have the freedom of enjoying each attraction
at your own pace, making all the stops you want, enjoying
personal assistance and care from our specialized guide.

Insider's Tip: If you can afford
it, definitely hire a private tour to visit the Argentine side of the
Iguazu Falls. Private tours have the best guides in town. The overall
experience in a private tour is much more intense, enriching and personalized
than in a group tour. Plus, you will save a lot of time in transfers as
you won't have to wait for the vehicle to pick up every traveler from
their hotels to start the tour. In Iguazu you can spend from 30 to 60
minutes (and sometimes more) between the time you are picked up at your
hotel and when your tour starts. 40 to 60 minutes of more sleep time is
very valuable for your vacations! Of course private tours are much more
expensive than group tours, so if it does not fit in your travel budget
then make sure you do a good research to know which group tour company
you want to hire. Unfortunately almost all group tours in Iguazu fall
below our quality and service standards (that's why we only organize private
tours in Iguazu!). Moreover, if you for
example would like to visit the San Martin island circuit (which
takes two hours to be done) you cannot do that if you are in a group tour.
In a private tour you will have your own private vehicle and guide, so
you will have the freedom of enjoying each attraction at your own pace,
making all the stops you want, enjoying personal assistance of your guide.
Insider's Tip 2: You
need a full day to visit the entire area of the Argentine side of the
Iguazu Falls. Any tour company which tells you that a half day is enough
to visit all the Argentine side is just plain wrong (we emphasize this
as many tour companies still sell half day tours to the Argentine side
of the Iguazu Falls). The Argentine side is so big (Devil's Throat, upper
boardwalk, lower boardwalk, ecological train, etc) that it is impossible
to visit it all and enjoy it with a half day tour (without having to be
running and staying too short time in every spot). To visit the most important
attractions in the argentine side of the Iguazu Falls you need to walk
3 miles or 5 kilometers, that cannot be done in a half day and to also
have time to enjoy each attraction at your own pace.
Insider's Tip 3: Another
very important advantage of arranging a private tour, instead of group
tour, is that private tours itineraries are designed not only for you
to make the most out of your day tour time, but also for you to visit
each attraction in different times than the ones of group tours. For example,
in a private tour we would arrange for you to visit the Devil's Throat
at 9 AM after the Iguazu National Park opens. Group tours arrive
to the Devil´s Throat between 10 and 10:30 AM. Therefore you will
visit the best spot of the Iguazu Falls in a very exclusive way
not with hundreds of tourist but with just a few other tourists which
are also taking private tours instead of group tours.
Insider's Tip 4: Don’t
forget to pack your color filters to filter off the intense white lights
of the falls, to achieve more defined contours of the shapes in your photos.
Insider's Tip 5: In any adventure
activity how you dress can make a big difference on whether you have a
great time or not. If you feel uncomfortable, too cold or too hot most
probably your tour experience won't be as good. We suggest for this tour:
1. Dress with light clothes. It will be hot while you visit the many
boardwalks by the falls.
2. Insects and mosquitoes are present in some areas so it’s a good
idea to take some insect repellent with you to use it if needed.
3. Water mist and of course the heavy water shower from the falls can
soak you completely. You definitely want to take some extra clothes in
your backpack with you (try to bring a waterproof backpack). Also, protect
every item (bags, photo-camera, video-camera, etc.) that you don’t
want to get wet. Ziploc bags or even regular plastic bags will do fine
for that purpose.
4. The sun and the sun reflection on the water
and the mist can insolate you if you are not properly protected. Bring
your favorite sunscreen. Your body will be exposed to the sun during the
entire day.
A hat or cap is highly recommendable to prevent insolation
5. The ground is probably going to be wet all
around the falls (due to water mist) and there are many stairs which might
be slippery. Proper shoes with rubber soles will help you from falling.
6. Bring your sun glasses. Light reflection on
the water and the water-mist can be very intense.
Insider's Tip 6: When
booking any tour in the Iguazú National Park ask the tour company
if the entrance ticket to the Iguazú National Park is included
in the tour price so to avoid any unexpected extra fee.

Insider's Tip: Although there
are boat adventure tours at the Argentine and Brazilian side of the falls,
you should definitely book the 12 minute boat ride on the Argentine side.
Let us explain you why. The boat tours on the Brazilian side only visit
the "Tres Mosqueteros" falls, which between the Argentine and
Brazilian border. The boat tours on the Argentine side visit the "Tres
Mosqueteros" falls and the second strongest falls of the Iguassu
Falls: the "San Martin" Falls, which is also much more impressive
than the "Tres Mosqueteros" falls. Therefore, you will get close
to 2 falls instead of 1 if you do the tour from the Argentine side. Moreover,
the boats used on the Argentine side are designed to provide a more comfortable
ride and let you better admire the close up views of the falls.
Insider's Tip 2: You can (and
should!) take your camera on this tours (it’s possible, we did it!).
Remember to protect it with a plastic bag.
Insider's Tip 3: In any adventure
activity how you dress can make a big difference on whether you have a
great time or not. If you feel uncomfortable, too cold or too hot most
probably your tour experience won't be as good. We suggest for this tour:
1. You are definitely going to get completely wet from head to toes during
this navigation. Be prepared! Don’t take anything with you that
you don’t want to get ruined by water. You can leave your backpack
and some belongings at the dock. You should protect your camera from getting
wet if you take it on the boat by covering it with a plastic bag. You
can also buy a waterproof plastic suit at the dock which will cover most
of your body. Nevertheless it will also make you feel very hot, which
might be uncomfortable, and besides, getting all soaked is part of this
exciting tour!
2. Our best advice is to change your clothes after this tour. Therefore,
you should bring some extra clothes, like t-shirt, socks and pants. In
order to change your pants in public you could wear some shorts underneath.
Otherwise you could be wearing a swimsuit or trunks underneath your clothes,
and leave your clothes on the dock with your backpack before the navigation.

Foz Tropicana Bird Park ("Parque Das
Aves")
If you enjoy seeing the most exotic and magnificent bird
species with outstanding close up opportunities in a natural
environment, then you will definitely love the visit to Foz
Tropicana Bird Park.
The
Foz Tropicana is a World-Class Bird Park located just meters away from
the main entrance to the Parque Nacional do Iguau (Brazilian side of
the falls) and it is the most important bird preservation park in Latin
America.
You will have the chance
to come into very close contact with many rare and colorful birds in large
naturally landscaped walkthrough aviaries within a beautiful Atlantic
Rain Forest natural environment. The Bird Park covers an area of 16 hectares;
however, only 5 hectares are so far developed, the rest is presently kept
as a conservation area.
This tour will allow you to get acquainted with and admire
more than 150 different species from all around the world,
one third of them in danger of extinction. You will follow
an approximately 1 mile (1500 meters) path which winds through
the forest and large walkthrough aviaries.
Expect colorful birds flying and passing above your head,
and friendly Toco toucans.
In addition you will also admire Caiman Crocodiles, Boa
Constrictors, Marmosets monkeys and Butterflies. There
are 25 species of butterflies which coexist in the same environment
with humming birds, which can only find in the American Continent.
There are many species of humming birds, Brazil has 80 of
them. They are the only birds which can fly in all directions
including sideways, backwards and upside-down. While hovering,
the wing beat rate in smaller humming birds averages 70 -
80 wing beats per second. Their heart beats over 1000 times
per minute during aggressive encounters with other humming
birds. Humming birds' principle source of energy is plant
nectar, and the major protein intake comes from arthropods
(small insects and spiders). Before the introduction of the
humming birds, spiders were a great problem in the butterfly
house. They spun webs in every corner and caught the butterflies
in large numbers. Two humming birds were introduced and proceeded
to destroy the spider population by taking newly hatched spiders
out of their webs before they were big enough to become a
threat to the butterflies. It proved to be an accidental but
very successful example of biological control!
The
construction of this bird park had to be carried out carefully in order
to prevent any damage to the native forest. The overriding theme of the
exhibits was to provide environmental enrichment for the birds by giving
them as much space as possible in naturally landscaped aviaries.
The
Bird Park has more than 900 birds of 150 species.
Two thirds of the birds are native
South American and the other third were imported subtropical species from
other continents.
All
birds seen in the Park originate from zoos, breeders authorized by IBAMA
(Brazilian Institute of Environment) or rehabilitation centers. The Bird
Park does not accept birds of unknown origin. All animals are registered
and an annual report is given to the Brazilian Zoological Society and
IBAMA.

Insider's Tip: This is a must-do
tour at the Brazilian side of the falls, unfortunately it is not very
promoted by tour companies, so not many people get to know and enjoy the
most important bird park in Latin America which has 150 different bird
species from all over the world and one third of them in danger of extinction.
The most interesting part of the Parque Das Aves is when you access the
gigantic cages and get into the habitat of the birds. On the first part
of the park you will see lotx of small cages with several species (talking
parrots on the first path. Talk to them, they repeat in Spanish and English!).
Don't spend too much time on this first path so you have more time to
visit the gigantic cages where you will have the opportunity to mingle
with the toco toucans and several colorful birds.
Insider's Tip 2: In the toco
toucans gigantic cage, remain seated on the wood bridge for at least 5
minutes and the toco toucans will start to get neart to you. In 10 minutes
you will have two or three toco toucans next to you at an unbelivable
close distance! Toucans are the main attractions of this bird park and
you will see lot of different toucan species from all around the world.
Insider's Tip 3: The bar at the
end of the trail is a great place to have lunch or have some snacks. Ask
for a "maracuja" juice (a fruit of Brazil), you won't regret
it!
